Questlove has always been outspoken about the legacy of Prince and The Roots drummer went to Instagram to explain why the late, great Purple One was a hip hop pioneer. And you’ll be hard pressed to disagree with him.

QUEST FOR CUBA: QUESTLOVE BRINGS THE FUNK TO HAVANA (MINI-DOCUMENTARY)

In April of this year, Questlove took advantage of President Obama lifting some travel restrictions with Cuba and made a trip down to the island. Okayplayer documents his journey.

In addition to two nights of DJing, Questlove made good use of his time in Havana, engaging in extensive cultural research both by digging up some classic Cuban-made vinyl and by visiting the legendary EGREM studios, where most–if not all–of those classic sessions were recorded.
