BRADY WATT FEAT. RO JAMES & TOPAZ JONES – BLACK & WHITE

Brady Watt of DJ Premier’s Badder Band is back at it with a super soulful selection titled “Black & White” that features Ro James and Topaz Jones. The bass player concocts a super smooth groove for James and Jones to glide over.

“Ro and I have been friends since my first year in New York” Brady stated. “We’ve also been collaborating since then, from backing him up onstage at countless artist showcases in the early days to producing records leading to a deal with RCA. I needed an emcee to breathe more lyrical content into it, but it really had to be the right fit. Around that time I discovered Topaz Jones on Spotify and was really diggin his style. “Black & White” was conceived in Malibu during the same stay when I wrote “Youth In Revolt” and a grip of others for the album. I wrote that guitar part and recorded the cello arrangement. When Ro and I linked back up in NY I laid it down, cut the hook and built the beat around it.”

BRADY WATT – JOURNEYS LED BY INTUITION [VIDEO]

DJ Premier’s newest signee — and member of The Badder Band — drops off the video for his new song “Journeys Led By Intuition.”

“Most of my songs/beats start with an idea generated by improvisation, sometimes just me sometimes others involved. This track was exactly like that, intuitively building around it. Making music for me has very little to do with rules or gear or anything; it has to do with capturing moments. That authenticity remains in the composition for life” Brady, also known as “BassGod” stated to Uproxx. “What “Journeys Led By Intuition” means to me is just trusting in the process. When it comes to making decisions in life, music, whatever – our intuition is all we got. The answers lie within, not in others.”

Brady Watt is part of DJ Premier’s The Badder Band and you may have heard him rocking the bass on Talib Kweli and Styles P’s The Seven EP.

Today, Brady releases the visual for the second single, “Roots Around My Ribcage” f/ Clifflight from his forthcoming To Get Back Home album. “I was going for uptempo/feel good with “Roots Around My Ribcage,” but still hard.  My roots are in hip-hop, so the drums always have to be knocking” Brady commented.  “I’m as much a fan heavy musicality as I am of simplicity and great songwriting; so I try to do both.  The greats all achieve a balance of this.”
