JOELL ORTIZ – FADE TO FAMOUS CYPHER DOCUMENTARY

DJ Booth and Joell Ortiz joined forces for this unique cypher that brought together the art of rhyming with the ultimate urban gathering hole, the barber shop. The series — dubbed as “Fade To Famous” finds Ortiz bringing together emcees in New York for a barber shop cypher. Check out the mini documentary on what went into the cypher and the actual cypher itself.

The barber shop is the heart of the neighborhood, so when Joell Ortiz wanted to give back to the streets via the pure art of rhyming, it was the natural place to hold the first ever Fade to Famous and DJBooth cypher. We invited every willing rhyme spitter in the Big Apple to show and prove their skills, then selected the top six to get down in the cypher, closed out by Mr. Yaowa himself.

In the meantime, be sure to pick up Ortiz’ latest album House Slippers here, which debuted at #5 on Billboard’s rap albums list and features Slaughterhouse, Mally Stakz, B.o.B. and Maino as well as production from The Heatmakerz, Frequency and Illmind.
