ROB MARKMAN – BELIEVE ME

You may know Rob Markman from his work with Genius, MTV and his many well-written features on hip hop for a number of media outlets. But his first love has always been rhyming and the emcee formally known as BK Cyph recently dropped an album and now shares this song that serves as a letter to his 15-year-old self titled “Believe Me.” Believe him, dreams come true.

Previously known for their party anthems (and, before that, being a underground group from the West Coast), the Black Eyed Peas revisit their original roots with “Street Livin'” where the jazzy horns allow the trio — minus Fergie — to lament about the ills that minorities face in America today.

KXNG CROOKED – A PARTY GOING ON

There’s a party going on, but not quite the one you’d expect. KXNG Crooked touches on a day observing police brutality, the state of American politics and interracial dating with “A Party Going On” off of the Jazz [Deluxe] album coming later this year.

JON CONNOR FEAT. DR. DRE – I’M BACK

Jon Connor has been relatively silent for a good minute but returns with the aptly titled “I’m Back” complete with a Dr. Dre intro that announces that Connor’s full length album is titled Vehicle City and coming this year. As for the rhymes, Connor goes bananas over the instrumental to Remy Ma’s “Wake Me Up.”
