Statik Selektah and Termanology reunite as 1982 because of the spreading coronavirus pandemic and spent 11 hours banging out a new album titled The Quarantine. Dropping on March 20, the duo release the first single titled “Relatable” and are joined by CJ Fly and Kota The Fiend.
It only took a decade for us to get a Jay Electronica album. But A Written Testimony is finally here with eight of the ten songs on the album featuring Jay-Z. At a total combined age of 93, the duo proves that age is nothing but a number as they deliver quality bars over banging production. One of the standouts is “Flux Capacitor” as Jay-Z addresses his relationship with the NFL and Jay Electronica just goes ape.
Buffalo producer and emcee TheRealSkitso is making a name for himself as being a collaborator with the likes of Conrad and Westside Gunn and his own debut project titled Shock Treatment. The Upstate NY talent drops a pair of videos with “99 Freestyle” and “Criminal Minds.”
Between his extensive sitdown with Eminem and blessing Royce on his new album on “Tricked,” we tend to forget that KXNG Crooked still has music of his own to release. He’ll be dropping The Sixteen Chapel EP soon and releases “San Diego 2010” for a taste of what’s to come.
Returning the favor for appearing on his album, Royce 5’9″ connects with Grafh for the DJ Green Lantern-produced “Agenda” from Grafh’s “The Oracle III.”
Royce 5’9″ put the industry on notice (again) with the immediate frontrunner for hip hop album of the year with The Allegory. You’d be an irresponsible fan if you consciously decided not to listen to this stellar piece of work. But in the event that life got in the way, check out Nickel’s collab with KXNG Crooked on “Tricked” where the former Slaughterhouse members go in about how much foolery goes on in the world today.
The potency of lyricism between Jadakiss and Pusha T is evident on their collaborative effort “Huntin’ Season.” Pusha takes aim at a rival and Kiss clobbers the production. From Jadakiss’ album Ignatius, which drops on February 28.
