It’s been a minute since we last heard from Saigon. But the emcee is back and having a little fun with “Ol School Moves.” Nobody is sure if he has an album coming but we’ll have to keep an eye on Sai-Giddy.
On July 26, the classic Eric B & Rakim album Follow the Leader will get a jazzy reimagination by Jonathan Hay for it’s 21st anniversary. Hay worked with musicians Benny Reid, Mani Ajami, Mike Smith, MIke Baker and Atlas Jenkins for this project and the first release from the project is “Lyrics of Fury.”
On August 30, Joell Ortiz will drop a brand new album titled Monday with production from the likes of Big K.R.I.T., Apollo Brown, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Nottz and Heatmakerz. Ahead of the album’s release, Ortiz releases “Captain.”
As Conway’s Shady Records debut God Don’t Make Mistakes draws near, the Griselda representative drops “Bang” with some lyrical assistance from the man himself, Eminem. Vicous bars are here to punch you in the face.
Seemingly out of nowhere we get a collaboration that we never knew we needed when Alchemist connects with Sir Michael Rocks and Chuck Inglish for a three track EP titled Lay ups. Nas finally drops the sequel to his classic The Lost Tapes and we’re all still soaking it in. But one of the most eye-opening tracks is “Tanasia,” produced by the one and only RZA. It makes you wonder what a Nas x RZA EP would sound like.
KXNG Crooked will drop his Menace II Sobriety EP on July 26th. And in the midst of still giving us the Hip Hop Weeklys, he’s found time to give us more as Dizz flips a Stevie Wonder (or Coolio, for you newbies) sample on “Flowers.”
