Everybody wants a piece of Griselda lately. The upstate collective hasn’t missed with their poignant bars over Daringer production. Pusha T is the latest to collaborate with a member of the crew as he goes bar for bar with Benny on “18 Wheeler.” You can only imagine what the top is.
First you had to hear it, now you have to see it. Griselda and DJ Premier connect for “Headlines” and the set of gritty visuals find the three emcees surrounding the legendary producer as they deliver their bars while Preemo holds up a frame with the words. We need more of this.
The tirades of Benny The Butcher continue as he sets RJ Payne up for success on his BSF imprint and then joins him on the appropriately titled “Butcher Meets Leatherface.”
After catching a body on the DJ Premier-produced “Headlines,” Conway, Benny, Westside Gunn and Ricky drop by Sway in the Morning to deliver a freestyle and stay on top of your head with some nasty Griselda bars.
What happens when Griselda connects with DJ Premier? Pure wickedness.
Westside Gunn, Conway and Benny put their verbal stylings over some head-snapping DJ Premier production on “Headlines,” which is released on Payday Records.
“I’ve wanted to do a record with them individually for a few years now,” DJ Premier says. “I had been listening to Westside Gunn first. Conway got my lyrical attention very heavy when Alchemist told me to listen to how he rhymes. Then after I got in tune with Benny’s songs, I immediately knew that in order to follow up the Casanova record it made sense to have all three on the same single. ‘Headlines’ was made organically from a blank canvas at my studio at 2am and it happened so fast; and I loved their work ethic.”
Buffalo continues to breed streetwise spitters. Lo-Profile teams up with Benny the Butcher for a joint that pays homage to the wild man from “White Men Can’t Jump.”
It’s no secret that the Griselda Gang crew are fans of pro wrestling so it makes perfect sense for them to pay homage to Big Van Vader, who passed away earlier this week. Westside Gunn and Benny tag up for the appropriately titled “Vader.”
Straight off of Westside Gunn’s next project titled after the pro wrestler who murdered his family, Chris Benoit, the Griselda rapper teams up with Benny for “Lotto.”
Griselda Gang continues to represent as Benny The Butcher teams up with El Camino to roll out the slow burner “India.”
