Well, isn’t this a pleasant surprise! Out of nowhere, Brother Ali and Evidence release a joint album titled Secrets & Escapes that was a byproduct of Ali’s time with Evidence during three trips to California. The duo ended up with 11 songs where Ali brings the rhymes and Evidence handles the production and it features the likes of Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch and, of course, Evidence.
Check it out in its entirety now.
Sway heads to Minneapolis for Sway in the Morning and connects with Brother Ali. If you know about Ali’s talent, you may have an idea of how it all goes down when he takes on the “5 Fingers of Death” freestyle.
Brother Ali formally announces his sixth album All the Beauty in This Whole Life and drops his second song in as many days with “Own Light (What Hearts Are For.” He gives the following explanation for the project.
“This entire album is based on the reality that beauty is the splendor of truth,” says Ali. “Beauty in all of its forms is the outward manifestation of love and virtue. It soothes the soul and pulls it gently toward the truth it communicates. Every word and note of this album is intended to either reflect beauty, or expose the ugliness that blocks us from living lives of meaning.”
Check out the song and check for the album on May 5th.
We haven’t heard much from Brother Ali since 2012, but that all changes now. The superb emcee is on his way back and drops this simple video for “Pen To Paper” as he preps for what we expect to be a strong 2017.
