Nothing like hearing some unreleased Jay Dee production. Slum Village’s latest off their upcoming album Yes! features that Dilla bounce as well as guest spots from BJ The Chicago Kid and Illa J.
In honor of the late, great James “J Dilla” Yancy, Beat Junkies J.Rocc and Rhettmatic crafted this tribute mix where the two deejays went back-and-forth on individual setups to craft a creative, 2×4 improvisational mix.
With what would have been J Dilla’s 41st birthday being on February 7 and Dilla Weekend in Miami kicking off at the same time, it’s only appropriate that the DJ trio of Manuvers, Sharpsound and LouiArson put together this instrumental mixtape of Dilla beats.
Detroit’s V Stylez drops the visuals for the J Dilla produced heat rock “Rough, Rugged & Raw” that features KXNG Crooked and Bumpy Knuckles. Off of his recently released At Odds Til I’m Even album.
A fan made video interpretation of the late J Dilla’s album “Donuts” has surfaced and is simply remarkable to watch. To splice together 44 minutes of visuals that include rare clips of performances by Dionne Warwick, Ronald Isley, Eddie Kendricks and more that were sampled for the album is all kinds of awesome and our hats should be tipped to the crew that put this together. Check it out!

After previewing the song at a Mass Appeal event for Run The Jewels 2, Nas unleashes the full version of his J Dilla produced song “The Season.”
Yes, you read that right. Nas has a song produced by J Dilla that he previewed at a private event for the Killer Mike and El-P Run The Jewels 2 project. The beat may sound familiar as it is “Gobstoppers” off of Dilla’s Donuts. But despite the familiarity of the instrumental, the blessing that Nas gave it will leave your head spinning. No word when or where the full song will drop.
