The artist formally known as Surock recruits KXNG Crooked, Blu and Jason Rose for “Rugged Music” that tips the proverbial cap to craft beer. From Abruham’s album Thank You Very Much, dropping on January 26th.
There’s a party going on, but not quite the one you’d expect. KXNG Crooked touches on a day observing police brutality, the state of American politics and interracial dating with “A Party Going On” off of the Jazz [Deluxe] album coming later this year.
KXNG Crooked’s brothers aren’t about to have the artist formally known as Crooked I have all the fun. Horseshoe Gang announces that they will drop their own project Dope Lyrics Matter on the same day as KXNG Crooked’s Good vs. Evil 2 and deliver the song “Shoes Fall Off” where they put in lyrical work.
Kxng Crooked opens up about relationship betrayals on this new single “Homewrecker”. The Slaughterhouse brethren collaborates with Smith and Hay, and the new Persian producing sensation Ranna Royce.
“Homewrecker” picks up right where the production team left off with their viral first single “Pawn Shop” featuring Eminem’s newest signee Conway. These songs are from the upcoming comedic album The Hoodlum Ball that also features The Game, Cyhi The Prynce, Twista, Riff Raff, MC Eiht and more.
KXNG Crooked takes aim and fires at the 45th president with “The MAGA Continues” from his forthcoming Good vs. Evil 2 album.
“Donald Trump coined the now famous acronym MAGA,” Crooked said to Mass Appeal. “I personally believe the phrase ‘Make America Great Again’ is a dog whistle for racism and turning the clocks of progression backwards. The way the country is currently divided it seems to be working. I’m really just letting off steam on the joint, but some important points are definitely being touched on. One point I covered in the song is being widely overlooked; maybe because it’s a fairly new form of division in Hip Hop. I’ve done many shows with white rappers and seen some of their fans in the crowd wearing confederate flag and swastika symbols on their clothing. Shit blew my mind. Nobody talks about this element in Hip Hop that is growing and will cause division on another level. I chose to speak on it because Hip Hop is a tool for unification and we need to keep it that way. How long will we allow the MAGA to continue?”
On December 8, KXNG Crooked will release the sequel to last year’s excellent Good vs. Evil with part two. To get things rolling, Crook is joined by Royce 5’9″ for the brooding “Truth (Why You Mad).”
“When I first started creating Good Vs Evil I wondered how I would get my audience to listen to a project covering social injustice, racism, classism etc. in a climate where most rappers are making music about poppin’ Xanax and drinking lean” Crooked commented. “My immediate afterthought was who gives a fuck what other artists are doing, Hip-Hop needs this album! Look at the world today. We have a president whose ex-wife is on record saying she was raped by him. We have police officers who are on film killing unarmed citizens with no consequences. We have entire cities like Flint, MI drinking poisonous water. Good Vs Evil 2 is just as necessary as part one. From the production to the content to the music sequencing to the artwork everything is designed to provoke thought. And the shit slaps too!”
KXNG Crooked releases a set of visuals for his introspective song “Too Ashamed” that addresses his issues with alcohol.
“More than a few people have told me that the first time they heard ‘Too Ashamed’ it moved them to tears because it reminded them of their struggles with sobriety,” Crooked says. “They also said the song motivates them to keep fighting the good fight. Those testaments are the reason I continue to make music. Some things are more important to me than awards and accolades.”
Page Kennedy is preparing to drop his “Straight Bars” mixtape and to solidify what this project is all about, look no further than his remix to “Made You Look.” With lyrical assistance from Elzhi, KXNG Crooked, Cassidy, Mickey Factz and King Los, you get nothing but bars for over eight minutes.
It’s the return of the four headed monster. Royce 5’9″, Joell Ortiz, KXNG Crooked and Joe Budden are back with a new banger off of Royce’s upcoming “Bar Exam 4” mixtape. When’s the album coming? Hell, we don’t know. Just enjoy some new heat.
KXNG Crooked opens up with his problems with alcohol on “Too Ashamed,” which is the first song on his Ashamed EP dropping June 16th. Jonathan Hay produced the song and spoke to Billboard about how the song came about.
“KXNG Crooked opened up for his first time about his alcoholism and recovery, which was a parallel experience shared with co-producers King Graint and Shachar Boussani who has seen friends struggle with addiction” Hay said to Billboard. “Singer Mike Smith was feeling very ashamed spending so much time away from his wife and kids pursuing music. Iliana Eve and I were victims of a home invasion at the end of April and been dealing with the trauma from that which is heard in the song from a friend on my voicemail.”
