PSYCH 101 FEAT. RAS KASS – DYSTOPIA

Psych Major — under the alias of Psych 101 — teams up with Ras Kass for “Dystopia” as Psych continues his weekly rampage of music.

“It’s been a few years since I recorded a verse so I used a hand-held mic like I was doing a live show to get that energy up,” said Psych. “I know you can hear obvious audio differences in our verses but I like the grit.”

HRSMN (CANIBUS, RAS KASS, KURUPT & KILLAH PRIEST) – BELIEVER/FALSE PROFITS [VIDEO]

Many moons ago, Ras Kass, Killah Priest, Canibus and Killah Priest formed the supergroup known as The HRSMN. They dropped a few songs but we never got a full-length album. That will all change on June 18 when the quartet releases The Last Ride. To set things off, they release a doubleheader of an animated video with “Believer/False Profits.”

RAS KASS, BRADY WATT & MAVERICK SABRE – PUSH ON THRU [VIDEO]

Brady Watt brings Ras Kass and Maverick Sabre together for the inspirational “Push On Thru” and drops a video that was shot during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Ironically, Ras Kass and I are neighbors in LA, but during quarantine I’ve been locked down in New York City since early May. Luckily, I have a studio here and have been able to make music every day, I wanted to make a positive song for the world right now and saw an awesome opportunity to do that with Ras and Maverick” Brady quipped.  “I’ve worked with Ras Kass before when we did our Bass & Bars and I’ve been a fan of Maverick’s for years.  The video for “Push On Thru” was shot during the quarantine in Ireland, New York and LA (all using social distancing practices of course).”

JAMO GANG (RAS KASS, EL GANT & J57) FEAT. SLUG – THE 1ST TIME (PRODUCED BY DJ PREMIER)

Jamo Gang’s Walking With Lions drops on May 8th and the trio of Ras Kass, El Gant and J57 connect with Slug of Atmosphere for the DJ Premier-produced “The 1st Time.”

“We were all in the studio hanging out with Premier one night, and Preem played a few things he had in the chamber,” El Gant said to HipHopDX. “We really liked the vibe to it, and the rest is history. J57 thought it was the perfect song to ask Slug to be a part of and he was with it. It is really exciting for us to have these two together for the first time on one of our songs.”

“This song means a LOT to us,” J57 adds. “This is my first time rhyming on a DJ Premier beat and working with Slug, two people I’ve looked up to for many years before becoming friends with them. This is perfect. Premier even brought in legendary piano player, Tyler Kimbro to bless the track, which was also an honor.”

RAS KASS – F.L.Y. (PRODUCED BY DJ GREEN LANTERN)

Ras Kass is closing in on the release of Soul On Ice 2 and applies his lauded verbal gymnastics over a DJ Green Lantern production with “F.L.Y. (F*ck Last Year).”

“F.L.Y. is actually my ode to Prince’s 1999. It’s a Hip-Hop New Year’s song,” Kass told AFH. “The triple-entendre being it’s an acronym for ‘F*ck Last Year’ and ‘FLY,’ as in ‘time flies why you’re having fun.’ Also, in the Hip-Hop lifestyle, you want to dress and act ‘fly.’ It’s wavy.”
