Piggybacking off of the success of Flow Riiot, Torii Wolf and DJ Premier are back in the lab with a new track “Silent Crow” created specifically for Amazon Music’s Valentine’s Day themed Love Me & Love Me Not Playlists
“’Silent Crow’ has a very deep and haunting feel for me,” Wolf told Complex. “The feeling of being so in love, but feeling the death of the relationship on his way to take you from the home you’ve built. Sometimes true love isn’t enough to live on. Special ingrediants in the recipe can be hard to measure. Doesn’t always turn out the way you wanted it to taste. That’s not always a bad thing either.”
Torii Wolf drops the acoustic video for “Moscow” from her excellent Flow Riiot album.
Torii Wolf releases a gripping set of visuals for the emotional “Pain Killer” produced by Mike Zombie as we are only days from the release of Flow Riiot. Has she convinced you to cop the album?
Mike Zombie backs up Torii Wolf’s chilling vocals on “Pain Killer” as we approach the release of Flow Riiot on September 29th.
“‘Pain Killer’ is a very intense record for me emotionally,” Torii told Highsnobiety. “I love the track that Mike Zombie created; his productions are dark and deep and that really resonates with me. I want people to connect with this song on a level of compassion and understanding. Falling in and out of love. The strong similarities to the high you get from being intimate with another person. Co-dependency. Vulnerability. There is space and emotion in this record. I did it in one take, so my raw emotion is immortalized here.”
After dropping the song, Torii Wolf delivers the haunting visuals for the DJ Premier produced “Big Big Trouble” from Wolf’s forthcoming Flow Riiot album.
“Creating a visual for this record was very special for me. It was really important to visually emulate the juxtaposition of love and lust in an animalistic way” Torii commented to Vibe. “The way that a female spider eats their lover is similar to the feeling of being lustfully consumed by another human. The video both conveys and captures the underlying emotion of knowing that you’re going to catch your prey before they do; and knowing what you’re capable of doing to them.”
September 29th marks the day that Torii Wolf’s debut album Flow Riiot will be released. With DJ Premier providing the beat, Wolf delivers another banger in the form of “Big Big Trouble.”
Torii Wolf and DJ Premier’s collaborative album Flow Riiot is drawing near and the duo are joined by Macklemore for the single “Free.”
The song tackles the battle we face every day to be our authentic selves and a reminder that our freedom comes from within and how we hold the key to how “Free” we really are.
“‘Free’ is a special tune. It’s very relatable,” Wold told Complex about the King of Chill produced song. “True freedom comes from within; it’s the battle we face each day with our own identity. Having the confidence to be comfortable in our skin and with who we are; and being our true authentic selves. I find the content of someone else’s mind most attractive.
“Feeling free in my gender fluidity and the way I connect with other humans is vital to my being. To feel safe in outwardly expressing what it is that ignites a spark in me can be very challenging in the society we live in. However, it’s only harder when I try and resist it. It feels very important for me to lead by example in sharing with others how we are in control of our own destiny. To be in touch with ourselves in knowing what we want, who we are and what feels good is such a gift. It radiates and it is very liberating. Allowing your spirit to shine can be contagious and that freedom from within is the light that we all need.”
Torii Wolf drops the video for this non-album cut produced by araabMUZIK. The moody “Body” is yet another example why Wolf is one to watch.
Rapsody hops on the remix to Torii Wolf and DJ Premier’s epic “Shadows Crawl” and delivers yet another stellar verse from the JAMLA queen.
“I felt Rapsody fit the picture perfectly” DJ Premier relayed to Pigeons & Planes. “Of course to make it complete, I threw in some scratches in the intro for the underground DJ’s so we always have that representation.” In her comments to Pigeons & Planes, Torii was very eager to hear where Rapsody would take the remix “I was very excited to work with Rapsody and to hear what she could do with this and I couldn’t be happier with how it came out. Rapsody adds an entirely new vibe to the record and fully emulated the concept of the song in her own unique way and voice. Her flow tells a story so inline with what I wrote about. I’m honored to be working with such incredible people and artists.”
Rapsody obviously enjoyed playing with the concept of the track, as she stated “I had fun working on this. I thought the concept was creative, so I just wanted to expand on the idea of having these inner secrets of loving someone else and that coming out in the middle of the night; talking in your sleep—laying next to your lover. I love the song and really enjoyed working with Torii, her sound is so unique. Her and Preemo sound so dope together. I was happy to be a part of it all.”
