It is with great remorse that we have to inform our readers that Craig Mack has passed away at the age of 46. As of press time there was no immediate cause of death, although heart failure has been suspected. However, a representative for Craig Mack did state that the former Bad Boy rapper had been fighting an illness for quite some time.
Mack burst on the scene back in 1994 as the first rapper on Bad Boy Entertainment with “Flava In Ya Ear.” The remix, which featured LL Cool J, Rampage, Busta Rhymes and The Notorious B.I.G. was a smash and became a defining moment for Sean “P. Diddy” Combs’ budding record label. Although he would release another single with “Get Down,” Mack’s album Project: Funk Da World was unable to garner a huge buzz as The Notorious B.I.G. became the label’s top star.
Mack eventually left Bad Boy and in 1997 released an album titled Operation: Get Down before departing the industry entirely for a spiritual journey. He would never return to the rap game but was heavily rumored to be working with the likes of Erick Sermon and Easy Mo Bee in the event that he would make a comeback.
