One of the most consistent groups and easily the best live band in hip hop have returned with new music. Black Thought, Questlove and the crew are back at it with new music as The Roots drop “Feel It (You Got It).” No word on whether this is leading to a new album but it’s good to see them back in business.
Unheard Sean Price music is always welcome around these parts. On December 20, Lil Fame will drop a collaborative album with the late, great Sean Price titled Price of Fame that features all new verses from Price.
“Me and Sean P always spoke about recording an album together” Lil Fame commented to Complex. “We grew up in the same neighborhood and came up in the game about the same time. So when we finally got in the studio the shit was epic. Y’all know P is a beast with them bars. Price of Fame!”
Check out the first single “Center Stage.”

Roc Marciano is as consistent as they come and the Long Island emcee serves up his proper follow up to Behold A Dark Horse with Marcielago. Fifteen tracks deep, Roc Marci delivers the goods. For a taste, here’s the video for “Richard Gear.”
Brothers Madlib and Oh No rarely collaborate on music. But now the family members have decided to team up for a full album. Now known as The Professionals, the duo will drop their self-titled album on January 17th. To formally announced the project, they drop “Superhumans” with features from Chino XL and eLZhi.

This is a unique combination that works when it all comes together as Houston’s Paul Wall, Buffalo’s Benny The Butcher and Boston’s Statik Selektah connect for “Overcame.” It’s from Paul Wall and Statik Selektah’s Give Thanks project dropping on November 28. If you’re not sure what to expect, we suggest you hit play and find out.
Bandana remains in heavy rotation as one of the best albums of the year (even though the Grammys don’t think so). In light of the nonsensical snub for Best Rap Album, Madlib and Freddie Gibbs drop the absolutely hilarious video for “Gat Damn.” Freddie Gibbs goes the Five Heartbeats route as Freddie Kane and takes to the stage in a retro set of visuals. It’s nuts.
Consequence releases this lost song from the final Tribe Called Quest sessions titled “No Place Like Home” shortly after what would have been Phife Dawg’s 49th birthday.
“I always knew I wanted people to hear this record, but it just felt like the timing had to be right,” Consequence said about the song that is finally seeing the light of day. “This year it feels right. The one thing I know about Phife is that he’s a rapper’s rapper. The best gift I could give him for his birthday this year is to let the world hear the 5 Foot Assassin once again!”
