JOE BUDDEN – MAKING A MURDERER PT. 1 (DRAKE DISS)

In the spirit of hip hop, Joe Budden goes right for Drake’s neck after Joey felt the lyrics from Drizzy’s “4pm In Calabasas” were subliminal shots at him. The gloves come off and Budden fires a lyrical onslaught that is going to be hard for the Toronto rapper to ignore.

“I come from a hip-hop where if you didn’t have something to say, then, nigga, what the fuck were you rapping for,” Joey told Pitchfork. “I’m tired of rappers addressing things in every other manner in passion but rap. I’m not addressing Drake, or addressing Meek because I am malicious toward either of them or I wish either one of them harm or ill will. I am celebrating hip-hop. I want the people who I deem–I want the people who are talented to be talented.

“I just want this to be a moment in hip-hop because it is. Me, as an MC, I’m my own worse critic. I’ve listened to “Making a Murderer” a million times and it’s chilling. It’s chilling when you just understand it. It’s a clear message, line in the sand, to all MCs. I’m not playing no more.”

SKYZOO – FRIEND OR FOE PT. 3

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Jay Z’s seminal debut Reasonable Doubt, Skyzoo was approached by Genius to add a revenge chapter to Jay’s “Friend Or Foe.” Let Skyzoo tell it and then hit play.

So last week, the good folks at Genius came to me with an idea to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Jay-Z’s classic debut “Reasonable Doubt.” The seminal piece by one of our generation’s most important and heralded emcees, it’s celebration is nothing short of well deserved. In light of that, Genius.com approached me with a concept based on the project:

“Hey Sky, what would happen if you wrote a song based on ‘Friend or Foe,’ where you’re the son of the hustler who Jay-Z killed in the story? What if the out-of-town hustler who was killed in the hotel room had an infant son back home, and now after 20 years he’s seeking vengeance on his father’s murderer: Jay-Z. What if you told the story, not as Skyzoo, but as the 20 year old son”?

I thought it was brilliant. Needless to say, I picked up the pen and got right to it. And thus, here’s “Friend or Foe pt 3”. For the record, this is not a Jay-Z diss by any means. We all know Jay is one of my favorite emcees of all time. This is a creative take on a fictional story told from the point of view of a fictional character. Enjoy it in the essence of what it is. And happy anni’ to “Reasonable Doubt,” a timeless piece for the ages.

Classified and R.A. The Rugged Man join forces for the remix to “Hoody And A Ballcap” and represent for the underground hip hop fans.

“This is a song for the underground heads,” says Classified. “The ones with the hoody pulled up and the ballcap pulled down. If you’re into bars and beats, this one is for you.”

“Classified has been killing it for years, so when we finally connected I was ready,” adds the Rugged Man. “He hit me with this joint, and I went in the booth and really gave him something personal that I’m proud of. He mixed and arranged the music and I think the shit is great. I love this song.”
