“This joint is a favorite of mine, and it was also the last beat I made for the album. I love how Che’ comes at you from all different angles, and gives the imagery that’s needed in this game” Apollo stated to OkayPlayer.   “It was an honor to have one of the best to do it, Black Thought, on this record as well, giving his take on the grind.”

JAMO GANG (RAS KASS, EL GANT & J57) FEAT. SLUG – THE 1ST TIME (PRODUCED BY DJ PREMIER)

Jamo Gang’s Walking With Lions drops on May 8th and the trio of Ras Kass, El Gant and J57 connect with Slug of Atmosphere for the DJ Premier-produced “The 1st Time.”

“We were all in the studio hanging out with Premier one night, and Preem played a few things he had in the chamber,” El Gant said to HipHopDX. “We really liked the vibe to it, and the rest is history. J57 thought it was the perfect song to ask Slug to be a part of and he was with it. It is really exciting for us to have these two together for the first time on one of our songs.”

“This song means a LOT to us,” J57 adds. “This is my first time rhyming on a DJ Premier beat and working with Slug, two people I’ve looked up to for many years before becoming friends with them. This is perfect. Premier even brought in legendary piano player, Tyler Kimbro to bless the track, which was also an honor.”
