DJ Premier has had quite the busy past couple of years. Well, that’s been his entire life. But collaborations with artists both young and old have been released at a frequent clip. For his latest endeavor, Preemo connects with Casanova for the ultra aggressive “Wut U Said???” on Payday Records.
“Making decisions from a DJ/producer/fan perspective is always my approach when I make a new joint for an artist,” Premier told Complex. “Since the Payday deal is a four-single deal, how do you follow the ASAP Ferg record ‘Our Streets’? I love hardcore hip-hop so much, which mentally took me into a darker place and I immediately thought of Casanova.”
Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Adrian Younge have been putting in work. From the duo scoring another season of Luke Cage to the brilliant The Midnight Hour album, these two have been tearing it up musically. Their appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert furthers that notion as they glide through “Black Beacon,” “There is No Greater Love,” “B*tches Do Voodoo” and “Mission” from their recently released album.
Curren$y is joined by Jadakiss for the remix to “Old Range” produced by Monsta Beats.
Chance the Rapper dropped a four pack of songs the other night but this is, by far, the standout of that group of songs. The title isn’t by coincidence, either. It samples the early 2000s standup by Jamie Foxx where he sings the four letter curse word. And there’s no sing songy Chance, it’s straight bars from the young Chicago rapper.
Reggie Noble has been churning out music and has us all excited for what’s to come. The latest from Redman comes in the form of the rambunctious “Ya!”
Bussa Bus joins Anderson .Paak on the remix to the Cali artist’s jam “Bubblin.” Both of them have new albums on the horizon.
Chris Rivers smooths it out over Mick Jenkins “Vibe” for his latest weekly entry “Be You.”
Producer Vanderslice recently dropped his new project The Best Album Money Can Buy and the album is chock full of dope production featuring the likes of Evidence, Slug, Big Twins, Blueprint, Freddie Gibbs, Cormega and more. But one of the standout tracks is the Conway featured “We Got The Drop.” Check it out now and cop the album on iTunes.
Brady Watt aka The Bass God has been making noise on the solo tip for a bit now. The member of DJ Premier’s Badder Band, Watt takes a moment to bless us with another groove. Alongside Fat Tony and Dru Oliver, Watt serves up “Been Down.”
