Shortly after dropping the first song from his upcoming Petestrumentals 3 album, Pete Rock releases a video for “Say It Again.” Pete and his band offer a breezy set of visuals that take place in the park and studio. Perfect for a smooth cut.
It’s been nearly 20 years since Pete Rock blessed us with PeteStrumentals and the Chocolate Boy Wonder is back with the third edition dropping on December 12.
“I wanted to keep the same feeling that people got with the first PeteStrumentals, even if I’m not sampling,” Pete Rock said in a statement announcing the first single “Say It Again.” With a band behind the beats, Rock will be joined by drummer Daru Jones, guitarist Marcus Machado, bassists MonoNeon and Christopher McBride, keyboardist BigYuki and vocalist Jermaine Holmes.
“I want the best; I’m like James Brown and Kool & The Gang; I want precision.”
Every year (January 18) is the Lo Life’s Anniversary and they meet up in Times Square with members worldwide.

Skyzoo and Pete Rock assemble a collection of the East Coast’s finest spitters for “Eastern Conference All Stars.” The song, taken from Skyzoo and Pete Rock’s forthcoming Retropolitan album that drops on September 20, finds all five emcees delivering bars over some Chocolate Boy Wonda production.
Skyzoo and Pete Rock add visuals to the pounce of “It’s All Good” from their forthcoming Retropolitan album.
“The video, directed by Sen Floyd, shows a raw but vibrant scene of the NY that Pete and I know” Skyzoo said to Vibe. “The graffiti, the color schemes, city folk cutting by in between shots, even the industrial feel that peaks it’s head in the camera at times, all of it, along with the shots of the corners and 22 story buildings that define NY, are what we know of the city. It matches the essence of the song perfectly. One of my favorite videos to date for what it depicts and represents.”
Retropolitan drops on September 20
Skyzoo over Chocolate Boy Wonda beats for an entire album? We’re sold! Pete Rock will provide the sonic backdrops for Skyzoo to bless with his brilliant rhymes when the duo drop Retropolitan on September 20. To kick things off, they drop “It’s All Good” that, surprisingly, is a beat that came from Pete Rock’s Illmatic sessions in 1994.
“The crazy thing about this beat is that I made it in ’94,” Pete Rock told Billboard. “This beat is 25 years old. I never retouched it or re-did it. It came out of the SP-1200. This was when I was making ‘The World Is Yours’ and those sessions.”
Hit play and get ready.
The Chocolate Boy Wonder drops a short film for this project that dropped earlier this year Return of the SP1200. To put a fresh coat of paint on the album, Pete Rock releases a short film titled “Shots Fired.” Soundtracked by Pete Rock’s album, “Shots Fired” deals with a young MAGA supporter who switches up when it comes time for him to show up at his high school’s talent show.
