And the end of August, TDE’s SiR will release his Chasing Summer album. To kick things off, the Inglewood crooner gets the new papa known as Kendrick Lamar to bless the feel good groove and drops a video to accompany it.
Fresh off of Revenge of the Dreamers 3 comes the video for “Sacrifices.” J. Cole, Earthgang, Saba and Smino all represent on
Skyzoo over Chocolate Boy Wonda beats for an entire album? We’re sold! Pete Rock will provide the sonic backdrops for Skyzoo to bless with his brilliant rhymes when the duo drop Retropolitan on September 20. To kick things off, they drop “It’s All Good” that, surprisingly, is a beat that came from Pete Rock’s Illmatic sessions in 1994.
“The crazy thing about this beat is that I made it in ’94,” Pete Rock told Billboard. “This beat is 25 years old. I never retouched it or re-did it. It came out of the SP-1200. This was when I was making ‘The World Is Yours’ and those sessions.”
Hit play and get ready.
Chris Rivers dishes his third single from his forthcoming album G.I.T.U. (Greatest In The Universe) in the form of “In The Morning.” It’s a groovy love song from the son of Big Pun.
Benny The Butcher squeezes another clip from “The Plugs I Met” EP with a video for the Alchemist-produced “5 To 50.”
“Just like the track, the” 5 to 50” video is inspired by real-life events. It’s my side of the story, along with India’s side of the story; and it depicts how those stories collide” Benny recalled. “I bring you to Montana Ave; the block where I am from and illustrate my lifestyle and how some of those lifestyle choices affected India. This was our life and it captures both perspectives.”
Oh, and Benny also signed a deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
Ain’t no games being played by Griselda.
Rapsody is coming for necks with her next album. Following up the stellar Laila’s Wisdom, the North Carolina emcee is preparing to drop her next album Eve later this month. She drops off the lead single “Ibtihaj,” which pays tribute to Ibtihaj Muhammad. A member of the United States national fencing team, Ibtihaj became the first Muslim American woman to wear a hijab while competing for the US in the Olympics in 2016.
With production from 9th Wonder, guest spots from GZA and D’Angelo, along with cameos from Roxanne Shante and Mary J Blige, check out the stellar video for an album that is surely going to stake its claim when it drops in a few weeks.
