On what would have been The Notorious B.I.G.’s 49th birthday, Skyzoo releases “St. James Liquors” from his forthcoming album All The Brilliant Things that drops on June 11th.
“With ‘St. James Liquors,’ it’s a story of what my neighborhood used to be like, and it uses 13 year old me as a catalyst of these two types of individuals that my friends and I were in awe of: the guys outside and the musicians who represented them,” Skyzoo says of the song. “As a young kid writing rhymes and growing up a block away from the late great Notorious BIG, inspiration was easy to get, as it was literally footsteps away. The tug of war of the guys on the block who were stars and the guys who represented them who were stars, and the irony of them going hand in hand, was something that had my head on a swivel as a teenager. This song breaks down the dichotomy of the two.”
Did somebody say they wanted bars from a pair of streetwise emcees? Lloyd Banks and Ransom team up to give you just that with “Gluttony.” No word on whether we’ll get more from these two but Lloyd Banks appears to have a new project on the way.
Evidence is tuning up for the release of Unlearning Vol. 1 on June 25 with another song from the project. The smooth “Pardon Me” finds Ev getting introspective as the West Coast emcee continues to impress each and every single time out.

The reception for J. Cole’s “The Off Season” has been a warm one and the North Carolina emcee treats his fans to a video for the second track off the album “a m a r i.”
The Alchemist never stops releasing music. And it helps that the music he releases is dope. From his “This Thing Of Ours” EP comes a video for his collaboration with Earl Sweatshirt “Loose Change.”
J. Cole will drop The Off-Season on May 14 and gave us a taste of what’s to come with “Interlude.” With the album right around the corner, Cole releases a short documentary on the process of making the album titled “Applying Pressure.” It’s a unique look into the creative process and life of J. Cole and a perfect appetizer before the album drops.
The artist formally known as Sense gets a remix from Damian Marley for his song “What Do You Say (Move It Baby)” featuring PJ from his A Beautiful Revolution (Pt. 1) album. Of course, the Marley flip is perfect for the Summer wherever you are partying safely.
